The Nikon Z 6II, Z 6, Z 7II & Z 7 camera can be upgraded to output RAW video via HDMI connector to selected external recorders.  The upgrade requires the firmware to be updated in which you are also required to send in the camera to the selected authorized service center for the RAW video output upgrade service activation at a fee.

As of December 2019, the Atomos Ninja V supports RAW output from a Nikon camera. The format in which the RAW video is recorded depends upon the external recorder and the Ninja V records RAW video in 12-bit ProRes RAW format. Combined with full-frame sensors’ vast dynamic range, ProRes RAW delivers the fullest spectrum of color imaginable—ideal for HDR content creation using wide color gamut BT.2020.

Note:
  • When shooting in raw video output mode for ATOMOS (Type A), the camera is not restricted to the minimum of ISO 800 (As with shooting in 10-bit N-Log mode).
  • Users can freely utilize the sensor’s vast ISO sensitivity ranges in all video resolutions. (Z 6II & Z 6: ISO100-51200; Z 7II & Z 7: ISO64-25600) for flexibility.
  • The camera will output in linear gamma signal with a proprietary Nikon RAW color gamut.
