4.1 Shutter release is disabled or shutter response is slowTry the following if the shutter release is disabled or shutter response is slow.1. Check whether a memory card is inserted. The shutter cannot be released without a memory card in place. Open the cover on the camera’s side or base, insert a memory card, and try releasing the shutter again. To allow the shutter to be released without recording a picture when no memory card is inserted, press the Menu button and go to the Setup Menu, select Slot empty release and Enable release → OK.2. Check that [Release] is selected for the autofocus “release priority” options.Menu button → Custom Settings menu (AF-C or AF-S release priority)Selecting [Focus] for autofocus release priority prevents the shutter being released when the subject is not in focus. Selecting [Release] allows pictures to be taken whether or not the subject is in focus.Selecting [MF] (manual focus) as the camera focus mode also allows the shutter to be released whether or not the subject is in focus. You can enable manual focus using the [Focus mode] option in the “i” Menu or in the Photo or Movie Shooting Menu.3. Select [Off] for Exposure delay mode.“Exposure delay mode” reduces camera shake by delaying the release of the shutter until approximately 0.2 to 3 seconds after the shutter-release button is pressed. Select [Off] for [Exposure delay mode] in the Custom Settings menu.4. Disable the self-timer.If [Self-timer] is selected for the release mode, the shutter will be released automatically at a set time after the shutter-release button is pressed. To disable the self-timer, press the “i” button to display the “i” menu, highlight an option other than [Self-timer], and press OK. 5. Pause between shots when using the built-in flash*.Using the built-in flash multiple times in quick succession may result in the shutter release being disabled to protect the flash light source by limiting the use of flash. Should this occur, pause briefly before resuming shooting.* Applies only to models with built-in flash units. > Back to Z Camera Troubleshooting Guide - Index > Download User's Manual/Reference ManualThe above guide may not apply or may include functions that differ to your product.
