1.1 The camera won’t turn on.

If the camera fails to turn on, try the following.

1. Check that the battery is inserted correctly.
The battery latch locks the battery in place when the battery is fully inserted.
After inserting the battery, close the battery chamber cover.
If the battery chamber cover does not latch, check that the battery chamber is free of foreign objects and that the battery is inserted in the correct orientation.

2. Check that the battery is charged.
【For Users of Charging AC Adapters】
Turn the cameras Power switch to off, connect the charging AC adapter, plug the adapter in, and confirm that the charge lamp is lit.
If the charge lamp flashes rapidly for 30 seconds and then turns off, remove and reinsert the battery.
If the problem persists, the battery may not be compatible or the temperature of the camera may be elevated.
Use a different battery or end charging until the camera has cooled.
*Note that not all cameras come with charging AC adapters.

3. Check that the battery contacts are clean.
If the contacts on the battery or in the battery chamber are dirty, clean them with a dry cloth.
If you are uncertain as to how to proceed, contact a Nikon-authorized service representative.

4. Check whether the battery is a genuine Nikon-brand product.
Nikon-brand Li-ion batteries bear a holographic seal as proof of authenticity.
Note that performance can only be guaranteed with genuine Nikon batteries.
If you are unsure whether a battery is genuine, contact a Nikon-authorized service representative.

5. Check the operating environment.
The performance of the battery and the length of time it can be used may drop at low temperatures.
We recommend that you keep the camera and battery at room temperature before shooting and while waiting for the next shot.
Shooting may end automatically or fail to start at high ambient temperatures or if the temperature of the battery or camera is elevated. If you are unable to proceed because the camera is hot, turn the camera off and wait for it to cool.
