Step 2: Wireless Camera Setup - Windows

Your camera needs to be paired up with your computer and the wireless LAN environment before you can make use of the wireless functions. Once you have installed PictureProject and established a wireless network, you need to create a profile for your camera by using the Nikon Wireless Camera Setup Utility.

The steps below will guide you through setting up a wireless profile for your camera:

Step 1: Click on Start, then Programs and then click on "Wireless Setup Utility".
Step 2: Select Next.
Step 3: Click "Next".If your computer is not already on a network, please configure the network first before setting up the profile for the camera.
Step 4: Turn camera off. Rotate mode dial to SETUP. Connect the camera to the computer via USB (UC-E6), turn camera on and select Next.
Step 5: The computer will start detecting the camera.
Step 6: Create a Profile Name and choose an Icon. The name and icon you choose are completely up to you and can be anything you wish. Select Next.

Step 7: Enter the network information that you had setup previously.

  • Type the name (SSID) of the wireless network in the indicated area.
  • Choose the connection Type (Infrastructure or Ad-hoc).
  • Choose a channel for the network. If one channel does not work well, you can try another (not required for Infrastructure).
  • Enter the security information if/as required.
  • Click Next.

Step 8: In most cases your network device will use DHCP to obtain an IP addresses automatically.
If your network uses a manual address, select Manual from the drop down menu and enter the information as required. Select Next.

Step 9: A printer profile will also be created. This profile allows you to print directly to the printer attached to the computer from the camera.
Enter a name for the profile, select Printer (installed printers on your computer should appear in the drop down list) and select Next.

Step 10.  The Camera Profile and Printing Profile have been saved to the COOLPIX. Click Close.
Step 11: The camera is now configured for wireless operation. Turn off and unplug the camera. Click OK.
