Camera displays "MEMORY CONTAINS NO IMAGES" after I have shot some pictures

There are some possibilities that will cause your camera to display this message. One of them might be caused by a corrupted memory card.

To see if your memory card is corrupted:

  1. Please check the user manual to see if your memory card has been tested and approved by Nikon. -1
  2. Change the transfer mode of your camera to "Mass storage" (MSC) -2
  3. Connect your camera to the computer. -3
  4. Open a "My Computer" window.
  5. Double click on the icon (Drive letter may vary).
  6. Double click on the "DCIM" folder and double click on any folders you see.
  7. You should be able to see some files with the name of "DSC_NNNN.jpg" in this folder. -4
  8. Double click on any of the files to see if you could open them.

If you cannot open or you did not see any files, your memory card might be corrupted. If problem persists, it is recomended that you replace the faulty memory card or please contact the manufacturer of the memory card for troubleshooting.

-4 "NNNN" are numbers representing the number of shots that you have taken.

-5 Warning: Any images that are in your memory card will be deleted after you have formatted the card.
