Setting up a Coolscan LS-2000 To setup a Nikon Coolscan LS-2000: Select a suitable location for the scanner.Remove the transport locking screws.Connect the SCSI and power cables.Set the SCSI ID. (Default ID-2). NOTE: If there are other devices on the SCSI chain, make sure that you set each device with a different ID number from 1 to 6.If the scanner is making a clicking noise when it is turned on, this is an indication that the lower locking screws was not removed. Please turn OFF to prevent futher damage to the scanner and remove locking screws first.If the clicking noise is ignored and the scanner is operated, Nikon Scan will report that an autofocus failure has occurred when attempting to focus or scan or Nikon Scan will report a serious error has occurred while attempting to perform an autofocus. These are indications that the lower locking screws are still in place. Please power off the scanner and remove lower locking screws. There are TWO locking screws that must be removed before applying power to the scanner. The screws are located: on the bottom of the scanner casing (this screw is commonly missed)on the front of the scanner.
