How to display images in the correct orientation automatically?Nikon DSLR cameras feature a function which flags the orientation an image was taken in, for example landscape or Portrait. When this function is turned on, any images viewed on the cameras LCD monitor or in Nikon View 6.2 (or later), PictureProject or Nikon Capture 4.x will be displayed in the correct orientation. However, if the image is opened in a third party software, like Adobe Photoshop, the image will be displayed in the default horizontal/landscape orientation. This will also occur if the image is included in the slideshow function of Nikon View or PictureProject. To prevent this from occurring it is recommended to check the "Rotate image automatically" in the Nikon View 6.2.x or PictureProject transfer options. When this option is checked, images are rotated as they are transferred to the computer (note: this may extend the time required to download images). Images transferred with this option checked will display in the correct orientation in third party applications such as Adobe Photoshop. Rotating images after downloadTo rotate images that have the Image Orientation flag, but were not rotated during download because the above checkbox was not selected, please use the following steps:- In Nikon View editor, click the button to rotate the image clockwise, then click the button to rotate it back to the correct orientation. Then click the save button.- In PictureProject click the button to rotate the image clockwise, then click the button to rotate it back to the correct orientation.Images rotated in this manner will now be displayed in the correct orientation in third party applications and the slide show functions of Nikon View and PictureProject.SlideshowThe slideshow function of Nikon View and PictureProject uses the actual image as part of the slide show, rather than the image thumbnail shown in Nikon View or PictureProject. Therefore images which have not been rotated during transfer are shown incorrectly orientated during the slide show. Please note in continuous mode, the orientation recorded for first shot applies to all images in same burst, even if camera orientation is changed during shooting. For more information regarding 'Auto image rotation' <rn:answer_xref/> .
