SB-29s lens and camera compatibility

SB-29s lens and camera compatibility

Although it inherits the functions of the Nikon SB-29 model that it succeeds, the SB-29s also offers M1/32 flash output to help assure correct exposure with current and future generations of digital cameras featuring high sensitivity.

Useable lenses
The SB-29s is designed for use especially with Micro-Nikkor lenses to realize the maximum benefits of the flash unit. Use one of the three supplied adapter rings to attach the flash to the lens.
Note: Other Nikkor lenses having a ring that rotates or moves forward or backward during AF operation may not operate correctly or cause damage due to the weight of the SB-29s, therefore only use manual focus with other lenses.

Recommended lenses
  • AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f2.8D provides AF with UR-3 adapter ring
  • AF Micro-Nikkor 105mm f2.8D or f2.8 provide AF operation when the SB-29s main unit is attached to the lens using the 62mm adapter ring provided.
  • AF Micro-Nikkor 200mm f4D or f4 provide AF operation when the SB-29s main unit is attached to the lens using the 62mm adapter ring provided.
  • AF Zoom Micro-Nikkor 70-180mm f4.5 / 5.6D ED provides manual focus operation when the SB-29s main unit is attached to the lens using the 62mm adapter ring provided. AF is not possible.
  • Using the PC Micro-Nikkor 85mm f2.8D set at the Tilt and/or Shift position is not recommended.

Useable lenses with limited function:
