VR image stabilization for Z-series mirrorless camerasSelected Nikon mirrorless cameras use in-body 5‑axis VR stabilization, operating across yaw, pitch, roll, and X/Y shift, and compatible with all NIKKOR Z lenses. Users can select Normal VR for stationary subjects or Sports VR for moving subjects. During video recording, optical VR can be supplemented with electronic VR (e‑VR) for increased stability when conditions require it. The following list outlines the number of VR axes supported by Z-series mirrorless cameras. Z 9, Z 8, Z6III, Z 7II, Z 6II, Z f, Z 7, Z 6, Z5II, Z 5 & ZRZ50II, Z 50, Z fc & Z 30Z mount LensesNon-VR equipped Lens5 (Sensor stabilization)N/A VR equipped Lens5 (Sensor + Lens stabilization)2 (Lens stabilization / Yaw & Pitch)F mount Lenses + FTZ AdaptorNon-VR equipped Lens3 (Sensor stabilization / Roll, Yaw & Pitch) *N/A VR equipped Lens3 (Sensor + Lens stabilization / Roll, Yaw & Pitch)2 (Lens stabilization / Yaw & Pitch) * Non-CPU lenses require manual input of lens data (Focal length & Max Aperture) to enable VR stabilization. Selected Nikon mirrorless cameras support Synchro VR, which coordinates lens-based VR with in-body 5‑axis VR to optimize stabilization performance for each supported lens. This enhanced integration between optical VR and IBIS increases total correction range and improves compensation accuracy. As a result, the system can counter larger amplitude camera shake, improving stabilization effectiveness in still images, video recording, and real‑time viewfinder display. When a compatible lens is attached to a compatible camera body and the body image stabilization is turned on, the system automatically works as Synchro VR.
