Troubleshooting Nikon battery charger problems

Try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. If the battery charger charge light does not illuminate at all

  • Check that the mains power lead is connected securely to the Nikon battery charger and the wall power socket.

  • Check that the wall power socket is providing power or try another wall power socket.

  • Check the mains power lead is not faulty, use it to power another device is possible.

  • With the battery charger disconnected from the wall socket, clean the charging contacts on the battery charger with a dry lint-free cloth.

  • If there is still no charge light, this would indicate the charger is faulty.

2. With a battery inserted in the charger, if the charge light blinks rapidly (about 8 times per second)

  • Generally this would indicate a problem with the battery.

  • If you have a second battery which charges as expected, it would indicate a problem with the first battery. If multiple batteries cannot be charged it would indicate a problem with the battery charger.

3.  With a battery inserted, if the charge light is constantly lit
This indicates that the battery is fully charged. However under certain conditions the battery may not be fully charged as described below.

  • When battery is near the end of it's usable life it may not be able to hold a full charge.

  • Continuing to charge a battery for long periods after it has fully charged can impair battery performance and possibly cause this problem.

  • If the battery charger is moved when a battery is being charged, the electrical connection could be interrupted. In this case the charger may display full charge. Remove and reinsert the battery to begin charging again.

  • If none of the above apply then the battery could be faulty.

Do not use batteries or chargers not specifically designated for use with your product. Failure to do so may result in reduced performance or overheating, rupturing, or catching fire.
