1. Check you are using the recommended battery type(s) listed in the user manual.
2. Don't mix batteries with different charge levels or batteries of different makes or types.
3. If your camera accepts different types of batteries (Alkaline / Lithium / NiMH) set the "Battery type" setting in the setup menu to match the type of batteries inserted into the camera.
4. If using AA alkaline disposable batteries - “High Power" High Energy, Power Plus, Pro Cell, Ultimate type AA batteries are recommended. Standard AA Alkaline batteries are not suited for digital cameras as they do not have the power to drive the camera for more than a limited number of shots.
5. If using rechargeable AA batteries - Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) Rechargeable Batteries are currently the most powerful, economical & readily available. They are relatively inexpensive, can be charged very quickly and hundreds of times. Select high capacity batteries (high mAh) for maximum life. If the batteries are not used for some time you will have to charge them as they discharge when not used.
6. Some functions of the camera can lead to increased use of the battery such as using flash regularly, playback, GPS, Wi-Fi , Eye-Fi etc. Try to reduce use of these functions to preserve battery power.
