1. What is the FTZ mount adapter?
The mount adapter allows Nikon F mount NIKKOR lenses to be mounted on Nikon Z mount mirrorless cameras. It cannot be mounted on F mount (Nikon digital SLR) or 1 mount cameras (Nikon 1 advanced camera with interchangeable lenses) or used with 1 NIKKOR lenses.
2. Can the FTZ mount adapter be used with all the Z mount cameras?
Yes, cameras with both FX and DX sensors.
3. Which F mount NIKKOR lenses can be used with the FTZ mount adapter and what are the limitations of use?

4. If I use an F mount NIKKOR DX lens with the FTZ mount adapter, will the image be cropped?
Attaching a DX lens automatically selects the DX image area.
5. Is the number of focus points reduced when a teleconverter is used with the FTZ mount adapter?
There is no drop in the number of focus points.
Unlike D-SLRs, there is no change (reduction) in the number of focus points with the Z mount system, even when the combined maximum aperture is f/8 or f/11. However, focusing accuracy may drop or it may take longer to focus with some subjects or in some situations.
6. Is there any difference in AF accuracy or speed between a NIKKOR Z lens and a NIKKOR F lens with similar specifications used with the FTZ mount adapter?
The NIKKOR Z lens AF accuracy is better. When phase-detection AF is used, AF speed will be about the same with both the NIKKOR Z lens and the NIKKOR F lens.
7. Is F mount lens precision and performance reduced when used with an FTZ mount adapter on a Z-series camera?
No. There are no changes to focal length(s) or aperture value(s) and lens performance is the same as when it is mounted on a D-SLR.
8. When using a TC teleconverter on the FTZ mount adapter, are there fewer focus points available?
No. Unlike DSLRs, with the Z-mount system, the same number of focus points is available unaffected by slower combined maximum apertures such as f/8 or f/11.
However, focus accuracy may drop or AF may take longer, depending on subjects and shooting conditions.
9. Why is the FTZ mount adapter not working with the Z 6II & Z 7II?
Please note that in order to use the FTZ mount adapter with the Z 6II or the Z 7II, the FTZ mount adapter would need to be updated to firmware ver.1.10.
Kindly download the latest firmware from the Download Center and perform the upgrade accordingly.
10. Can third-party F mount lenses also be used with the FTZ mount adapter?
Nikon does not guarantee operation with products that are not genuine Nikon products. In addition, failure or damage caused by the use of third-party products is not covered by the warranty.
