How to check the firmware version of your camera, lens or accessory

Follow the steps below to display the firmware version of your camera on the monitor using the camera menus.
- Make a note of the displayed versions, you can then click here to check if a later firmware version if available for download.

DSLR and Z series Mirrorless cameras
a. Turn the camera on.
b. Press the camera MENU button and select Firmware version in the SETUP MENU to display the camera firmware version.
c. Check the camera, lens or accessory firmware version.
d. Turn the camera off.

COOLPIX camera
a. Turn the camera on.
b. Press the camera MENU button to display the menus.
c. Press the multi selector left to display menu icons, then highlight Set up and press OK.
d. Highlight Firmware version in the Setup menu and press OK to display the camera firmware version.
e. Check the camera firmware version.
f. Turn the camera off.

Nikon 1 camera
a. Turn on the camera.
b. Press the MENU button to display the menu screen.  
c. Select the Setup Menu.  
d. Select Firmware version from the setup menu.
e. The camera's firmware version(s) will be displayed. 
f. Turn off the camera.
