Wired flash accessories to control a Speedlight when used off camera

The following wired flash accessories can be used to control a Speedlight when used off camera.

SC-29 TTL Remote Cord (1.5m)

The TTL Remote SC-29 Cord allows a Speedlight to be used off-camera using i-TTL flash control. One end slips into the camera's accessory shoe and the Speedlight attaches to the other end. With Creative Lighting System (CLS) compatible cameras, the SC-29 also works as an external AF-Assist illuminator when used with a CLS compatible Nikon Speedlight.

SC-28 TTL Remote Cord (1.5m)

The TTL Remote SC-28 Cord allows a Speedlight to be used off camera using i-TTL or standard TTL flash control (depending on the model of Speedlight used). One end slips into the camera's accessory shoe and the Speedlight attaches to the other end. There are two standard TTL flash sockets to allow additional Speedlights to be connected using SC-26/SC-27 cables.

SC-28 and the SC-29 Differences

  • The TTL Remote Cord SC-29 has the AF-Assist illuminator function, the SC-28 does not. When the SC-29 is used with supported DSLR cameras, the SC-29 AF-Assist illuminator located on the camera hotshoe replaces the Speedlight AF-Assist illuminator.
  • The SC-29 is an all-in-one unit which enables connection of one external Speedlight on the accessory shoe. The SC-28 has an accessory shoe plus two standard TTL flash sockets which accept SC-26/27 or other TTL cords.

SC-26 & SC-27 TTL Multi-Flash Sync Cord (1.5m or 3m)

TTL Multi-Flash Sync Cord SC-26/SC-27 connects flash units to each other through the TTL Remote Cord SC-28 for multi-flash operation.

AS-15 Non-TTL auto flash

The AS-15 is compatible with cameras such as the D750, D7200, D7100, D5600, D5500, D5300, D5200, D3400, D3300 and D3200, which feature standard ISO-type accessory shoe but lack a sync terminal for large studio strobes. Non-TTL auto flash is used.
